About Dubysa Regional Park

Dubysa Regional Park is situated in central Lithuania along the picturesque Dubysa River valley and covers a diverse landscape of forests, meadows, and striking Devonian limestone cliffs. Established in 1992, the park spans over 5,500 hectares and serves to safeguard this ecologically valuable and geologically unique region. The park's rugged topography features deep river gorges, limestone caves, and distinctive outcrops that interrupt the otherwise gently rolling countryside of Lithuania. The forests are predominantly mixed, comprising pine, spruce, oak, and birch, which provide habitats for numerous bird species, mammals, and rare plants. Historically, the area is also rich in cultural landmarks, including ancient hillforts and archaeological sites reflecting the region’s early Baltic tribal heritage. Visitors to Dubysa Regional Park can enjoy an extensive network of trails perfect for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, allowing close exploration of river landscapes, forested hills, and panoramic overlooks. Seasonal fishing and canoeing on the calm stretches of the Dubysa River are popular activities. The park offers a peaceful nature experience relatively close to urban centers, highlighting Lithuania’s natural and historical heritage. Its mixture of geological phenomena, biodiversity, and outdoor amenities make it a treasured destination for locals and tourists alike.
